2024 Stingrays & Audio Problems

General Motors has released a Service Bulletin for select units of the C8 Corvette Stingray over an issue of an audio booming or droning noise.

Bulletin number 23-NA-205 indicates that certain 2024 Corvette Stingray 1LT units may have a condition where customer notes one or more unwanted boom or drone noises. Applying to both coupe and convertible models equipped with the standard Bose Premium 10-speaker system (RPO code UQS), this noise reportedly occurs during Active Fuel Management (AFM) operation and between 1,500 and 2,000 rpms.

To remedy this unwanted annoyance, certified GM technicians are to inspect affected vehicles and check to see if the wiring harness has a different polarity than the amplifier for the right front midrange speaker. To do this, techs will access the T3 radio speaker amplifier through the passenger footwell, and subsequently begin testing terminals. Notably, it should take less than an hour to perform this fix.

As a reminder, the Corvette C8 Stingray is powered by the 6.2L LT2 V8 gasoline engine, which is rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. However, those figures are bumped up five horsepower and five pound-feet of torque when the mid-engined Vette is equipped with the high-performance, dual-mode exhaust system (RPO code NPP), which has been quite the popular option.

Delivering this output to the pavement is the GM eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which exclusively drives the rear wheels.
