Exactly How Fast Is The 2023 Z06

The 2023 Corvette Z06 boasts some pretty impressive specs, with its mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine throwing down 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, spinning up to a soaring 8,600-rpm redline. But what does all that mean in the real world? And more importantly, how does it stack up against other modern sports cars? Now, we're watching as the new Corvette Z06 lines up for a drag race alongside a selection of atmospheric go-fast machines - including a sport bike.

Coming to us from the folks at Hagerty, the premise of this video is simple - collect some of the fastest naturally aspirated, mid- / rear-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicles on the market today, and see how they get on in a drag race. Clocking in at a little over 9 minutes, the video includes loads of racing action, all of which is nicely shot and edited to demonstrate just how quick the 2023 Corvette Z06 truly is.

So what about those competitors? Lining up alongside the new Corvette Z06 is the 2022 Audi R8 V10 Performance Spyder RWD, which, as the name suggests, is running a naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 ( the same V10 as the Laborghini Huracan), which output rated at 562 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, and redline set at 8,700 rpm.

Next to the Audi is the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3, which is running the (rear-mounted) naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six, rated at 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque, spinning up to 9,000 rpm.

Impressive machinery, no doubt, but with more power and roughly equivalent curb weight (the Porsche is a little lighter), the Corvette Z06 looks to have this pair beat. Enter the Ducati Panigale SP2, which is running a 1.1L V4 producing 210 horsepower and 91 pound-feet of torque, more than enough to move the Ducati's 429 pounds with some serious swiftness, especially with champion-winning rider Josh Herrin in the saddle.
