C7 Enters "Ghost Mode"
The driver of a C7-generation Chevrolet Corvette has shown that with enough power, outrunning the police can be a simple matter of flooring the throttle for a few seconds and escaping into the distance. At least temporarily as we suspect that this video only tells part of the story..
The clip that was recently shared to the lsx.videos page on Instagram shows a police cruiser coming up to the rear of a C7 Corvette somewhere in the United States. Almost immediately after switching on the blue and red flashing lights, the driver of the 'Vette decides they were in no mood for pulling over and instead drop down the gears and pin the throttle, quickly accelerating off into the distance.
The officer initially tried to keep up with the Corvette but simply didn't have the power to do so. Not only did the Corvette prove to be way too fast for the officer but the driver of the Chevy turned off the car's lights in their bid to escape. While turning off your lights like this is extremely dangerous, the dashcam footage shows that doing so made the car that much harder to see.
Based on the size and shape of the Corvette's rear wing, it looks as though it could be a ZR1. If that's not the case, it's likely a base Corvette Stingray that may have been upgraded to boost power from its V8 engine. Indeed, some twin-turbo and supercharger packages for the C7 can easily lift it to well over 1,000 hp.
Of course, running from the police could prove to be quite a costly mistake for this Corvette driver as their license plate is visible and authorities will likely be able to track them down very easily, if they haven't done so already.
