Drive 161 MPH And Get Your Photo Taken
New Hampshire State Police arrested a man after he was allegedly caught driving 161 mph on an interstate on Sunday.
Danbury, Connecticut native Alejandro Zapata-Rebello drove by a trooper on patrol on Interstate 93 in Ashland, New Hampshire when he was allegedly clocked at the incredibly high rate of speed, according to the NHSP's Facebook page. The speed limit for that strip of I-93 is 70 mph.
The trooper was unable to pursue the car due to its rate of speed, instead electing to dispatch a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) for the car to law enforcement in the area. Minutes later, the department was flooded with calls of multiple sports cars, including the orange C8 pictured, driving erratically and nearly causing wrecks, police said.
The Woodstock Police Department, just north of Ashland, eventually clocked the Corvette allegedly hitting 130 mph before locating the car in traffic. The trooper who originally spotted the car arrived at the scene and arrested the 30-year-old Zapata-Rebello.
Zapata-Rebello has been charged with three counts of reckless driving and one count of disobeying an officer. He was released on a summons to appear in court on September 22.
