'65 Corvette Coupe "Tanker" 327/365 4-Speed
This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in Glen Green over tan Saddle vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 327ci L76 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear differential. It is one of 41 "tankers" produced for the model year, optioned with a 36-gallon fuel tank, and additional features include 15? turbine wheels with knock-offs, power windows, tinted glass, power-assisted brakes, and an off-road exhaust system. This example was delivered new to Daniels Motors of Colorado Springs, Colorado, refurbished in 2006 under previous ownership, and was acquired by the seller in 2014. The car has received NCRS Top Flight and Duntov Mark of Excellence awards as well as Bloomington Gold Certification. This C2 coupe is offered in Georgia with a window sticker, past awards and judging sheets, refurbishment documentation, and an Ohio title in the seller's name.
The fiberglass body was finished from the factory in Glen Green (900GG) and was repainted during the body-off refurbishment by D&A Corvettes in 2006. Additional refurbishment work was reportedly performed by Kevin Mackay of Corvette Repair in 2014. Features include a driver-side mirror, concealed headlights, rear pillar vents, cast rocker accents, split chrome bumpers, and dual exhausts that exit through the rear valance. The seller notes that the car was involved in an accident in the 1970s that resulted in front-end damage.
The 15? Kelsey Hayes turbine wheels are fitted with three-ear knock-off hubs and are mounted with 7.75-15 Firestone Super Sports gold line bias-ply tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring out back. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners.
The cabin was refurbished and features bucket seats upholstered in tan Saddle vinyl (420AH) joined by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a heater and defroster, chrome gear shifter, lockable glovebox, lap belts, and a vertical Delco AM/FM push-button radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted to a telescoping column and frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. An analog clock is mounted in the center stack. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 64k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 327ci L76 V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 365 horsepower when new. The carburetor is said to have been rebuilt in 2021.
Engine block stamping 5119250 matches the last six digits of the car's serial number shown on the chassis plate. The letter F designates production in Flint, Michigan, and the HH suffix corresponds with a 327ci V8 with 365 horsepower and a four-barrel carburetor paired with a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission and a 3.70:1 Positraction rear differential. An off-road service dual exhaust system was factory optioned as well as a 36-gallon extended-range fuel tank.
