C1 Chevy Corvette Go-Kart For Sale

The average market rate for a well-kept 1958 Chevy Corvette with the base 282 cubic inch V8 engine, according to Hagerty's online valuation tool, is about $83,500. That's a lot of money to spend on an occasional weekend toy, especially in this day and age of rapid inflation and rising commodity prices, but we may have found an alternative for cash-strapped Chevy fans.

This vintage go-kart with a C1 Chevy Corvette body was recently listed for sale via online auctions site Bring-A-Trailer. According to the listing, this fiberglass Corvette bodied go-kart was originally manufactured by a company called Manco Products of Fort Wayne, Indiana as part of a promotional campaign for Cherry Coke.

The current owner of this vintage kart recently refurbished the 127cc, single-cylinder Briggs & Stratton engine that it came with, fitting the motor with new head bolts, gaskets, spark plugs, and new a pull start cord. The original engine parts will be sold with the kart, just in case the new owner wants to return it to its original specification.

Under the red fiberglass bodywork is a black-painted tubular steel chassis with a newly reupholstered black leather seat. The current owner has installed some padding on the frame rails to prevent the user's legs from rubbing up against the bare steel when driving. The kart rolls on five-inch steel wheels and Kenda bias-ply tires measuring 4.10 inches wide by 3.50 inches tall. A plastic three-spoke kart steering wheel and drilled metal pedals handle the driver's inputs.

This kart has never been driven, with the 127cc engine having never been installed by the seller or any previous owners. This three-horsepower kart wouldn't be very fast, especially with a grown adult in the driver's seat, but it would be an interesting conversation piece for any car collectors with a passion for retro Chevys.
