A Saturday In Ruins

Saturday June 18th 21 members gathered at 9:30 for a caravan & lunch excursion. We took the scenic route using Hwy 337 & Hwy 55. Shortly before arriving in Mountainair, we made our first stop at the Quarai Mission and Ruins.

After a 30-minute walking self-guided tour we were back in Corvettes and headed to the Schaffer Hotel in Mountainair where we enjoyed a great lunch on their back, covered dining area. After we'd had lunch and swapped stories, we were off to the Abo Ruins. Some members elected to skip this final stop and head back home. More sightseeing, photos and a talk with the Ranger. Near the back of the ruins is one sole grave. Coins were all around the headstone. The Ranger didn't know when, or why the coins began to appear.

Prior to departing the Abo Ruins, the Ranger allowed us to park our Corvettes and get a nice photo. Many more photos of this excursion can be viewed using the photos navigation link.

A shout out to Glenn and Jewel Wagner for putting this well-organized adventure together for the club.
