NMCA Shares - My First Corvette

It was about 1963, I had just landed a good job at LANL after only two years of engineering school so I had the world in my hands. I was 21 years old. An old family friend had his 1958 Corvette for sale. Well, when I saw this car I fell in love (with the car), I had to have it. I paid $2,000 for the Corvette. It had two tops, and a three two carbs set up.

The Corvette was a real blast! I kept the car and moved to Albuquerque - joining my parents who moved there in 1966. I had a neat opportunity to work at KAFB for LANL on the nuclear readiness program and attend college. Sold the Corvette for $1,800, about 1966. I found a 1965 Corvette in 1968, I still have it today! I was hooked on Corvettes, anyone who has ever owned one has a similar story it seems. Transferred to Sandia Labs in 1968 and have been in NMCA since 1968 with the '65 Vette.

Editors note: Someday ask Donnie about his '65 Corvette - an interesting story about ownership in the late '60's.
