Classic Camaro And Corvette Battle At One Of America's Best Tracks
The Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette are two of America's great muscle cars. Road Atlanta is one of America's great race tracks. Put all three together and you've set the scene for an epic road race that would bring a patriotic tear to any American motorsports fan's eye.
The good folks over at Historic Sportscar Racing on YouTube filmed this exact intra-family General Motors battle this past summer. Taken from a camera affixed to the interior of the Camaro, the video shows the two classic Chevys having a hard yet respectful battle on the 2.54-mile road course in Braselton, Georgia.
This dog fight is rather close, with the Corvette having the edge down the straights and the Camaro appearing faster through the corners and under braking. The Corvette eventually widens the gap over the Camaro after passing it down the straight between Turn 7 and Turn 10A, but then the Camaro manages to reel it in again - mainly through the final corner (Turn 12) and the first sector.
