Ruidoso Caravan
A group of NMCA members left Smiths at the appointed time and headed east along Old Route 66 and met up with members of the Atomic City Corvette Club in Moriarty. We headed south through Estancia and Willard with a short stop in Corona for snacks. Along the way Mike Rothman asked the question...do female Longhorn's have horns. I told Mike we would all pull over and he could go check one out but for some reason he turned down my offer. Here's a cute one for you Mike!

We continued through Carrizozo, taking Route 37 into Ruidoso. If you have never taken
this route you need to. Great road for Corvette cruising... beautiful scenery too.
We arrived at the Convention Center in Ruidoso at 11:45am...just in time to get inside
to see David Judd and the "Die Polka Schlingel" band. This is a side of David that we
don't get to see...maybe David and his group could provide the entertainment at the next
general meeting! The band was great and not only played the traditional "polkas" but
also a variety of music including great hits from the big band sound. There were food
booths with brat's, sauerkraut, German potato salad and black forest cake. Nobody went
home hungry! After enjoying the band, along with the dancing and food, we headed out
to check into our hotel.
While everyone was hanging around the parking lot at the hotel , we noticed a Corvette
in the lot that was not part of our group....as it turned out it was fellow NMCA members
Martin Boyd and Rita Suinn from Las Cruces visiting Ruidoso for the weekend.
Once everyone was checked in we explored downtown Ruidoso and located the perfect place
for dinner..."The Quarters Saloon and Grill"...just the right atmosphere for this rowdy
bunch. After a great dinner with excellent service we all headed back to the hotel for
some rest and relaxation.
After breakfast Sunday morning, the group split up and headed out in different directions
for the trip home. Somewhere along the route Rich took home we heard that he had lost
JoAnn..later we were very happy to hear that he did find her. Welcome to our Corvette
family JoAnn!
