NMCA East Mountain Rallye

Shane LeMon and Steve Schultheis plotted, planned and researched countless hours in order to provide 12 NMCA teams with a fun, entertaining 70+ mile run through and around the east mountain area on Sunday May 20th.
As seen above, members receive the pre-rallye briefing and hear how easy the whole trip will be. Besides a pleasant drive through the countryside, these devious minds had created a 45+ questionnaire to be completed along the way.
Teams with the most right answers would be showered with gifts at the completion. This was one event where your Corvette or driver skills didn't really factor at all. The ability to follow directions and identify landmarks, signs and other elements along the way were paramount on this day. And true to their word, Shane and Steve had us travel down some roads that we probably never would have driven otherwise.

The event was well planned, had each team traveling about 70 miles in 2 hours start to finish, and was quite entertaining. Picked by insiders as favorites and the team to beat, "Team Ellison" failed to make it into the top 7 finishers, and they are still out in the east mountains looking for two signs and a phone number!
The only driving skills that came into play were members ability to make a u-turn so that they could go back and look again for an answer to the question at hand.

Above are a few of the entrants for the east mountain rallye, gathered at the Smiths parking lot prior to the event starting. A special thank you to Shane LeMon and Steve Schultheis for a ton of effort and planning in order for NMCA members to enjoy an afternoon. A good time was had by all, and if you happened to miss this event, hopefully another equally fun and challenging day will come along shortly.
