New Mexico Auto Collector Law
Attention collectors of historic and classic automobiles, the following information and
form pertains to New Mexico laws and has been made available by the NMCCC.
For the information of all persons concerned with the storage of parts and inoperative
vehicles in the state of New Mexico. Section 66, Article 11 of the State Motor Vehicle
Code was written to help hobbyists with problems relating to the keeping of such vehicles
on their own property. Many city and county officials are unaware that the law exists or
choose to ignore it. It is available on the web under State of New Mexico, Motor Vehicle
Code. When you go to a meeting, be sure to have a copy of it in your possession. Whatever
zoning laws are proposed, they must comply with the state law. Also, SEMA, out of
